Katie (O’Brien) Hinkle is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit and County Court Mediator and Qualified Arbitrator with more than a decade of experience litigating complex civil matters throughout Florida. As the founder of Florida Dispute Resolution, Katie now dedicates her practice exclusively to mediation and arbitration, helping parties resolve disputes efficiently, effectively, and outside of the courtroom.
Katie brings a uniquely strategic perspective to mediation, drawn from more than ten years of experience as a trial attorney. She has represented insurance carriers, businesses, and individuals in a wide range of cases, including negligence claims, premises liability, property damage, and commercial disputes. Her litigation background gives her a deep understanding of both the costs and challenges of trial, which she uses to guide parties toward meaningful, lasting resolution.
A Career Built on Advocacy and Negotiation
Throughout her legal career, Katie built a reputation as a skilled negotiator and advocate. She litigated cases from inception through trial, participated in mediations and arbitrations across the state, and litigated multiple jury trials. Her early years as a prosecutor with the Broward County State Attorney’s Office sharpened her courtroom instincts and taught her how to evaluate evidence, assess risk, and advocate persuasively under pressure.

Now, as a mediator, Katie brings patience, insight, and a firm commitment to neutrality to every case she handles. She is known for her ability to ask the right questions, identify creative paths forward, and foster an environment where parties feel heard, respected, and empowered to find common ground. Katie conducts mediations in person and via video conferencing.
Education and Admissions
Katie earned her J.D., cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center, and her B.A. in English from the University of Florida. She is admitted to the Florida Bar and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
